Health and Safety Policy

All employees, subcontractors or sub-trades working on any of our construction projects must and will follow this plan as discussed when contracted. Failure to do so may result in dismissal and or legal action against any and all parties involved.


Please note, any and all questions concerning this plan are to be directed to Mr. S. Stewart our company health and safety representative.

WORK ON LADDERS:
* Any plan in effect at location(s) work is being completed such as industrial plant, commercial or construction site in will supercede this plan unless reviewed by our Health and Safety Rep. And found to be lacking in certain areas.

Step Ladders:
• All Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations should be followed.
• Any ladders to be used on our sites will be in good condition and should be of fiberglass construction.
• All hazard instructions on ladders will be followed.
• The proper ladder WILL be used for the application.
• Commonsense is also a must.

Extension Ladders:
• All Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations should be followed.
• Any ladders to be used on our sites will be in good condition and should be of fiberglass construction.
• All hazard instructions on ladders will be followed.
• The proper ladder WILL be used for the application.
• All Ladders will be tied at base to prevent slipping.

WORK ON LIVE EQUIPMENT:
* Any plan in effect at location(s) work is being completed such as industrial plant, commercial or construction site in will supercede this plan unless reviewed by our Health and Safety Rep. And found to be lacking in certain areas.

• NO person will be permitted to work on any live electrical equipment unless procedures as documented in the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario are followed, page R125 + 126 sub section 188 + 189. If you are not familiar with these contact our Rep. For copies.

• All lock out, tag out procedures as per Occupational Health and Safety Act, page R-125 sub section 188 as well as our own company procedure are to be followed.

LOCKOUT TAG OUT PROCEDURE:
* Any plan in effect at location(s) work is being completed such as industrial plant, commercial or construction site in will supercede this plan unless reviewed by our Health and Safety Rep. And found to be lacking in certain areas.

• All equipment to be worked on will be locked out. Each employee will have a padlock and approved locking device in there possession.
• Documentation will be supplied to Health & Safety Rep. as to when, why, and who locked out equipment.
• After locking out, equipment must be tested and re-checked to insure all power to machine is off.
• If locked out by others our own lock out will be added to ensure no one will start machine until we are also complete.
• Under no circumstances will any of our employees remove any locking device other than their own.
• No employee is to restart equipment after lockouts have been removed other than persons trained to do so.
• Final document to Health & Safety Rep. stating that lockout for machine has been removed.

FALL PROTECTION:
* Any plan in effect at location(s) work is being completed such as industrial plant, commercial or construction site in will supercede this plan unless reviewed by our Health and Safety Rep. And found to be lacking in certain areas.

• ALL persons employed by STEWART ELECTRIC BELLEVILLE LTD. will be in possession of: Basic Fall Protection training card and should follow all practices as set out by the Construction Safety Association of Ontario’s Basics of Fall protection.
• ALL Subcontractors will produce proof to our Health & Safety Rep. of such certificates for any of their employees before they are permitted to work on our sites to which fall protection will be a factor.

TRANSPORTATION OF PERSONS OR GOODS:

• No person will operate any company Vehicle unless they possess a valid drivers license to operate that vehicle. All speed limits, and Highway Traffic Acts will be followed. Any employee fined will be responsible for fine payment and may be suspended from company vehicles. Under extreme circumstances employee may be suspended indefinitely.
• No one shall transport hazardous goods without proper documentation and notification to the related authorities.

**This policy will be amended from time to time, and sections added if required by any customer.**
